Hello Aspen Families!

It was such a great week as we enjoyed so many new concepts about fall.  We discussed fall fruits and vegetables we would like to taste. We played pin the fruit on the cornucopia and took a fall nature walk.  During the nature walk the children collected fall leaves to use for an art project.  We read books all about fall and the changing of seasons. We also discussed a group how to dress for the changing seasons. We danced and sang to 5 little pumpkins and named our classroom pumpkin, “Elephant.”

High Scope: children bowled with bean bags and blocks.  They counted the number of blocks they knocked down using one to one correspondence

 Music: In Music with Ms. Kathleen we enjoyed the last week of our famer Steve book. She continued to show us farm pictures and what food farmer Steve grows on his farm. We looked at pictures of farm equipment and sang along to the farm song. Children danced with scarves and played shaker eggs to a variety of music.

Literacy: Ms. Charlotte continued to introduce Aspen to classic nursery rhymes. The children have been working with rhyming and this week they clapped out rhyming words in the nursery rhymes. She also continued working on identifying fall objects with the children by playing, “I SPY.”

PE: In P.E Aspen worked with the large medicine balls. They worked all large muscle groups by rolling the large balls, kicking, tossing, bouncing on them and lifting them. They really enjoyed this activity.

 

Next week we will continue to talk about fall and the changing seasons.
