Hello Birch families,

This week the Birch class learned all about animals!  As a group, the class played animal matching games, imitated animal actions, guessed the animal sound and created numerous animal art!  During small circle the class listened along to the books Half of an Elephant, Squirrels, Little Blue Truck and Jamberry.  The class also sang and danced along to “Animal party”, “Going to the zoo” and “Old Macdonald”.

The Birch class continued to improve their practical life skills by pouring water from cup to cup, practicing getting one pump of soap when washing their hands, sorting farm animals by color and working with the tool boxes.

Large motor skills continued to grow by jumping over small cones, practicing the yoga poses for “cat-cow”, “frog” and “butterfly”, running relay races outside and imitating animal actions.

During music with Ms. Kathleen the class listened along to “Driving my tractor”, practiced banging on a small drum, danced with scarves and created music using shaker eggs and rhythm sticks.

 

Extra clothes/Weather appropriate clothing:  Now that it is officially fall, please remember to bring in a sweater or sweatshirt for your child for those chilly mornings.   Please try to bring in a variety of extra clothing to keep in your child’s cubby for all types of weather.

 

Next week the Birch class will discussing the change of seasons!
