This week in Forest, children discussed and celebrated winter! We made snowflakes and decorations for the Light and Love concert, talked about the cold weather, and read new books all about snow! We did not get outside much, but children enjoyed watching the snow fall and charting the weather each morning during group-time.
Forest children continued their play theme of restaurants this week as well. Each center has become a different style of restaurant where children take on certain roles to do their jobs. Children are learning new vocabulary as they work together to serve food to other customers. They are practicing math skills as they count the correct number of items to serve. Children are also practicing literacy skills as they write orders to remember what they need! We will continue this theme through December, adding on different aspects every week.
This week in Forest, children performed at their Light and Love concert! Thank you to everybody who supported the children as they performed the winter songs they have been practicing the last few weeks!
Please make sure your child has a winter coat, snow pants, boots, mittens, and a winter hat at school to enjoy the snow outside. Snow boots are not allowed in the classroom, so please be sure your child also has a pair of indoor shoes to wear while indoors.
Have a great weekend!
