Hello Forest Families!

This week in Forest, children finished up their play theme of community! For the past few weeks children have been taking on many new roles as vital community members in the fire station, post office, library, theater, police station, and medical center. This last week children combined many of the centers to work together in their play! We had emergency responders from the medical center following the firefighters to help people in the theater. There were police officers and detectives working with firefighters to solve a mystery in the library! Children evolved their play through communication and problem solving all week!

In literacy this week, Forest children started to ask questions related to science. After reading about famous scientists, we came up with questions about everything! Why is the sky blue? How do fish breather? Where does the sun go? What happens in volcanoes? Children then took their questions to paper to write about their thoughts.

In math this week, children worked on basic addition skills using manipulatives and counters. Children have worked with partners, in small groups, and individually while playing math games to hone these emerging math skills.

Next week we will begin a new play theme and start prop building! Have a great weekend.
