Hello Garden and Mountain Families.

This week and next, as well, we have been learning about zoo animals. This theme is so much fun! The children love to look at pictures of all the different animals, and Ms. Kathleen played sounds of many of these animals on her iPod for the children to hear. This week, we focused on bears, elephants, giraffes, and monkeys. It is very cute to hear some of the older children trying to make some of these animal sounds.

We read Dear Zoo, 1,2 at the Zoo, ABC ZooBorns, and Peek Inside the Zoo. We also have quite a few of the Usborne “That’s Not My…” books about zoo animals that the children have enjoyed. These books are great, because they have different textures for the children to explore. We also sang along to We’re Going to the Zoo!  

The children had a lot of sensory fun this week. On a buggy ride, we found some lilac blossoms that the children touched and smelled, they played with modeling dough, and the Mountain children painted elephants with purple paint. The Mountain children also helped to wash the table after meals. They really enjoy helping to such tasks!

This week we welcomed our new friend, Claire!
