Happy Friday Aspen families!
We had a fun, short week this week, painting and creating with nature! We read several nature books from the library about leaves, weeds, plants and flowers, and we enjoyed reading them individually and as a group. During circle time, we read Franny B. Kranny, There’s a Bird in Your Hair and talked about birds and feathers before painting with blue feathers for art. We also read Here in the Garden about experiencing a garden while missing a beloved pet rabbit. Thursday was our nature walk and we collected objects in nature and then made a collage by cutting out magazine pictures of what we saw and gluing the pictures and nature objects on construction paper. Today, we read Little Cloud by Eric Carle, then went outside to lay on our backs in the grass and look up at the sky. We then got out markers to draw what we saw in the sky, including the sun (with “arms and foots” according to one student,) Later on, we added pulled apart cotton to represent the fluffy clouds we saw in the west.
