September 9

Good afternoon Dogwood and Cedar families,

This week’s theme was “All About Me” so the children learned about their body parts, how to use a wipe to clean their faces, and some basic emotions.  The children continued working on greeting one another which is really building classroom communities!

During small circle the children sang “If You’re Happy and You Know It,” “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” (in English and Spanish), and “The Hokey Pokey.”

The children read Smile, Pout-Pout Fish, Little Monkey Calms Down, and Show Me Happy.  The children showed off their own smiles and frowns while reading this week.

Practical life skills were used when children gave baby dolls and animals baths in the sensory tables, and when they practiced pouring water and sand.

During art the children used foam paint, finger painted over their names, and made a class mural.

The children explored with soapy water and sand in the sensory tables.

During music with Ms. Kathleen the children listened to farm animal sounds!  The children have really started using all of the sounds while singing “Old MacDonald” and looking at books depicting farm animals.

Next week the children will be learning more about their families so if you have not brought a family picture please do so. If it is easier for you, you can email one to director@treehouselearning.com.  Have a great weekend!
