Good afternoon Aspen families,

In Aspen this week the theme was “All About Me”.   The children discussed different parts of the body, when building a large body puzzle. We also discovered where our body parts are in relation to each other. We then danced to, Head and Shoulders Knees and Toes.

We played a guessing game discovering who our friends are, using only pictures of each other’s eyes.  This was a tricky but fun activity.  Children worked on name recognition and shape recognition using their sitting squares. They engaged in a magnet activity with shapes: triangle, square and rectangle.  All of the Aspen children engaged in a lesson about scissor safety and glue. We discussed how scissors and glue are to be used and what they are used for. We also discussed how to appropriately use glue sticks to create artwork.  Lastly, we engaged in wonderful discussion about what we do at home with our families, children were very excited to be able to talk about their family and their favorite activities!

Music: In Music Ms. Kathleen sang a new finger play song about a mommy and daddy rocking their baby to sleep. We played jingle bells to the sound of our own voices. Children danced and pretended to be a train while dancing with scarves.

Literacy: Ms. Charlotte read, “Little Miss Muffett” with the children and then they played, “I Spy” with objects from the story.

PE: In PE children worked on catching and throwing balls outside. Children practiced with large, small and medium balls.

We found a red ripe tomato in our garden today and all of the children tasted it!!! This was very exciting!!

Have a wonderful weekend.
