Hello Garden and Mountain Families.

This week we concluded our theme of ‘All About Me.’ We talked about feelings, body parts and what they do. The children love to point to parts of their faces and their friend’s faces as well. They also love singing body songs like “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” and trying out the actions to them. We have had fun coming up with new actions to some of our favorite songs such as “If you’re Happy and you Know it… Click your tongue.” It’s great to watch the children laugh and try out the actions, too.

We read Happy Hippo, Angry Duck, The Way I Act, Get Happy, Here Are My Hands, Hands Can, and a variety of books about ‘my body.’ This topic always seems to be one that the children really show a lot of interest in, as they are learning about and discovering what their bodies can do. With this discovery, we have been trying a few baby yoga poses. The favorite seems to be downward dog

The Mountain children also enjoyed working with putting large toy coins into a slot in a tub. This is a really great fine motor practice activity, and very easy to do at home, as well. It also keeps their minds totally engaged, and it’s fun to watch them really concentrate on an activity.

This week we welcome our new friend, Charlie. We hope you all have a great weekend!
