Good afternoon Forest Families!

This week in Forest we continued to explore aspects of Fall such as the changing weather and harvesting time. Children read new books about pumpkins, apples, and falling leaves. Many children have been having a great time outside collecting leaves, raking leaves, and playing in the freshly fallen leaves!

We also started to wrap up our first play theme of families. Children have spent many weeks exploring different roles as family members & pretend playing in different rooms of a house. Over the next couple of weeks, we will transform Forest into our new theme of Grocery Store. Our Centers will soon become different sections of a grocery store and children will practice roles that are seen at a store such as customer, clerk, manager, florist, pharmacist, assistant, and so on.

Next week we will begin exploring books about grocery shopping and discussing what the children themselves do when they get to go shopping too. We encourage families to talk about what they shop for at the grocery store and how they pick their groceries out. If possible, we also encourage families to go on a “family field trip” to the grocery store. Even though the play theme will evolve soon, children will continue to work on their literacy and math skills through activities we have been working on over the past few weeks.

Have a fantastic weekend!
