Happy Friday Aspen Families!
In Aspen, we have been focusing on our classroom community and this week we have acknowledged how enthusiastic the children are when helping each other! During the week children continued to explore more complex emotions using books and visuals. We begin the week by working on how to build a body using the song, Mat Man. Children also used writing materials and shapes to build their homes. Children then reviewed shapes and letters in their names. Aspen explored foam, washing dishes and shape buttons during work period. We read: The Littlest Pilgrim, On Monday When It Rained and Good People Every Where. We had a great discussion of what it means to be a good person and help the people around us. We went on a bear hunt and stretched our bodies to a new stretching song. We begin and ended the week with a nature walk. The children enjoy the nature walk especially when we, “trip trop over the bridge!” They enjoy acting like, The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We continue to have an amazing time with all the children and are fascinated by the success we see every day!
Music: We continued to work on our Light and Love songs with Ms. Kathleen. Children then danced to Grand Old’ Duke of York with jingle bells and scarves.
Spanish: During Spanish, children learned 5 little pumpkins in Spanish, sang about vowel sounds, counted to 20 and reviewed their colors.
PE: Children worked on balance and core strength using the medicine balls and London Bridge song.
Literacy: Read: One Little, Two Little, Three Little Pilgrims. Ms. Charlotte begin discussing Thanksgiving and fall. They read, The Little Pumpkin and made connections of pumpkins in all the books they read.
High scope: Aspen worked on, “birthday cake” activity. Children used a variety of materials as birthday candles to sick in a play-dough cake. The children choose the number of candles and counted that number of objects to place on their individual cakes.
