Good afternoon Evergreen families!
This week in Evergreen the children were introduced to winter celebrations, regarding light and love. In the month of December, the children will be learning about Diwali, St. Lucia Day, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas. They will explore gift giving, card making, learning new games, and singing songs.
The children explored ice this week! For science, Ms. Riann froze objects into blocks of ice. The children used salt and water to melt the ice, and extricate the objects from the ice. They used ice cubes to build castles, and watched the cubes melt into water.
In math, Ms. Lindsey is teaching the children about charts, graphs, and data analysis. They have participated in creating graphs about their favorite colors, what kind of clothing everyone is wearing, and what kind of fasteners (snaps, Velcro, buttons) are on their clothing. The children have been interested in comparing the weather charts for the months of October and November.
In literacy, Ms. Suzanne has been building vocabulary with the children as they play Memory, I Spy, and What’s Missing. The children are also learning about taking turns, and following game rules as they play.
Have a wonderful weekend! Go Buffs!
The Evergreen Team,
Ms. Riann, Ms. Lindsey, Ms. Suzan, Ms. Suzanne, and Ms. Becky
