Good afternoon Evergreen families!

This week in Evergreen the children are learning about their five senses. They have been using felt board pieces to construct faces. We have been playing “I Spy” body parts for our senses. In science, the children are discovering and discussing what kinds of things do they smell, hear, see, taste, and feel. This morning the children learned the importance of trying different foods more than once because sometimes taste buds change over time, and they may taste things differently than they did before. At lunch, many children talked about how their taste buds were changing to blue, green, or white.

In math, the children have begun their unit on Number Sense and Operations. This week they have made playdoh cakes with button candles, practicing counting and arranging candles for different people’s birthdays. They have tried bowling with bean bags and blocks, and bean bags and bowling pins. While bowling, they have practiced counting to discover how many pins fell down, as well as learning how to group and count by tens. Tomorrow the children will practice their hand/eye coordination in the button drop, and count how many buttons make it into the container.

In literacy, the children worked with direction terms like: in front of, behind, and next to. They practiced following verbal directions, and then had visual cues to check their work and adjust objects when necessary.

Next week, we will learn about what is going on inside of our bodies, and how food and exercise keep our bodies healthy.

Have a fantastic weekend!

The Evergreen Team,

Ms. Riann, Ms. Lindsey, Ms. Becky, Ms. Suzan, Ms. Meghan
