February 10

Hello Garden and Mountain Families.

This week, we focused on a theme of ‘colors.’ We found and said the name of all the different colors of the rainbow. We read Colors, Colors Everywhere, Touch-and-Feel Colors and Shapes, What Color Is It, Eye Like Colors, and First Words: Colors. The Mountain children painted with frozen paint cubes, colored with paint crayons, and mixed colored paints to make other colors. We also spent quite a bit of time of color sorting activities. We sorted colored balls into tubes, and used a wooden peg puzzle with different colors.

Since the weather has been so wonderful this week, we have gotten to spend quite a bit of time outside. The children have really seemed to enjoy a change of scenery, and the fresh air. Some of the older children helped us collect juniper berries that fell onto the playground, and put them into a bucket. It was fun to watch them search and grab the berries from in the grass.

In music class, Ms. Kathleen was all about frogs this week. She sang frog songs with finger play and sounds. She also played different types of frog sounds and showed the pictures of that type of frog. Outside of music class, we sang “Icky Sticky Bubblegum,” the “ABC’s,” and “The Ants Go Marching.” The older children also really enjoyed climbing onto the seesaw outside and singing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat.”

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Valerie, Ms. Latanya, Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Shannon, and Ms. Delani
