Good afternoon, Aspen families.
This week in aspen we have had so much fun talking about fish! Aspen engaged in a puppet show about different animals that live in the ocean and how they interact. The children laughed throughout the puppet show. This was a very fun activity! Children also created ocean puppets to tell their very own story about animals who live in the ocean. This week we read books all pertaining to life under the sea. We read: Pout, Pout Fish, Life Under The Sea, Whale Blues, Fish, Philipok and LMNOP’s. Aspen really enjoys listening to stories!
During work period we focused on cleaning the easel, cutting with scissors, rolling out moon sand, new puzzles, boats on the water table and colored pencils on the easel. Children also focused on dressing the babies and dressing them self in dress-up clothes. The Aspen children were able to play on the Evergreen playground twice. The children really enjoy the Evergreen playground they love having so much room to run!
Music: This week children enjoyed playing on the snare drum in the big room. They played the trumpet, clarinet and saxophone. The Aspen children also had the opportunity to listen to a variety of woodwind and brass instruments. The children had the chance to explore all the instruments as the music teacher discussed the sounds they make
Spanish: Aspen continued to work on counting to 30. They reviewed names of animals and colors. Ms. Susan introduced Valentines objects as well.
Literacy: Aspen read, “How Do I Love You.” They then played, “I Spy.”
P.E: We learned about healthy and unhealthy foods, sorted them with Ms. Kira, then discussed healthy habits. This included brushing teeth and getting checkups with the doctor. Children also played bop till you drop.
Highscope: This week Aspen worked on bowling with bean bags. After they knock down the pins children engage in the simple addition and subtraction by counting how many pans they knocked down and how many pins are left. Aspen played shape hopscotch this week as well.
Have a great weekend!
