February 17

Hello Forest families,

This week in Forest we began our new play theme of Community! Children worked with teachers to change every center into one about community and community helpers. Children made props for a theater, the post office, the police station, the medical center, the fire station, and the library. Over the next few weeks we will read about how these places help the community and what they do.

This week Forest also had a special presentation in their Music classes! Children learned about woodwind and brass instruments and heard many samples from a visiting musician. Children even had the chance to play some instruments like the trumpet and the recorder this week! Next week, there will be one more presentation from the visiting musician where children can try out different instruments again!

Forest children also celebrated Valentine’s Day in the classroom this week. Children worked on making cards for their families and friends. Teachers worked with small groups to help children write messages in their cards. We also read Valentine’s Day books and talked about how we celebrate with those we love.

Next week, we will add on to our community centers and practice the roles of community helpers!

Have a fantastic weekend!

The Forest Teachers,

Ms. Amanda, Ms. Kristine, Ms. Jess, Ms. Freya, and Ms. Suzanne
