March 3

Hello Evergreen families!

This week in Evergreen, the children began learning about exercise and nutrition. The children started the week brainstorming ideas about how they can keep their bodies healthy. From eating healthy foods like fruits and vegetables, to exercising their bodies riding bikes and stretching, the children came up with many great ideas for eating nutritious meals and keeping their bodies moving. This week we read I Love To Exercise, and Why Do I Get Hungry?.

In literacy, the children worked on letter sounds with Ms. Charlotte, and read nursery rhymes in the library. In the classroom, the children worked on letter recognition using the moveable alphabet. They matched letters to one syllable words, and then matched the word card to those letters.

Ms. Kathleen had the children practice listening to instruments, and naming the instruments they hear. After listening to the instruments, the children played cymbals, rhythm sticks, tambourines, drums, maracas, and triangles when they heard their instrument playing on the speaker. After practicing different instruments, the children were able to pick the instrument they liked the best, and join the big room parade.

In art, the children traced one of their feet, and decorated it in a unique way. This activity involved holding writing tools, using cross body movements for tracing, cutting, and choosing decorative items.

This week, in math, the children played games to help them learn number sense and math operations. The games involved comparing numerals and putting them in order from 1 to 10. They worked with number words, adding, subtracting, and data analysis (chart).

Have an amazing weekend!
