June 2

Hello Birch families,

This week was a busy week with transitions and the beginning of our summer schedule.  During small circle, the children listened along to the books: Cats, Cats.  Dog and Mouse, The Big Bug Book, and If You Give a Moose a Muffin. We also enjoyed singing songs “The More We Get Together” and “Mr. Sun”.

During music with Ms. Kathleen, the Birch class sang along to “Baa Baa black sheep”, “The itsy-bitsy Spider” and “Mary had a Little Lamb” while Ms. Kathleen played the guitar.  The children also took turns strumming the guitar with the help of Ms. Kathleen.

The class continued to work on their practical life skills by scooping stars that were floating in water, transferring water between cups, picking up plastic bugs with tongs and washing dishes in the dramatic play area.

Large motor skills continued to grow by jumping off the balance beams, running and catching bubbles, kicking and throwing balls back and forth to a friend, and balancing on the wooden beams.

Next week will be the start of summer curriculum.  We will be doing quite a bit of work with “loose parts”.  Thank you so much for bringing in supplies! Our first section is Boxes, Boxes, Boxes!  The Birch class will be building, creating art and exploring with boxes!

Class Notes:

The Birch class would like to welcome our new friends; Fletcher, Dara, Ewan, Zoey and William to the class!

*Now that we will be doing a lot of exploring and work with water during the summer months, please make sure that your child has enough weather appropriate extra clothes.

*Please be sure your child is wearing close-toed shoes while at school.  This will help to ensure their safety and allow them to be able to play comfortably!  Flip-flops are not allowed at Treehouse.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Ms. Nicole, and Ms. Itzel
