Good Afternoon Forest Families!

This week we officially began our summer program which includes many field trips, some visitors to Treehouse, and a lot of time working outside on new activities!

Forest children began their outdoor work period this week. We spent time exploring the water table using items that float and sink. Children tried transporting water using various sizes of containers. Children also enjoyed finding creative ways to fill up the water tables using different sizes of buckets and a lot of teamwork!

During our outdoor work, children explored many types of building as well. Some children worked on connecting pipes to make structures for their play, while other children connected tubes to transport sand in the sandbox! We will continue to explore building and STEM work throughout the summer, especially outside.

Inside the classroom, children started to explore our new theme of animal habitats and ecosystems! This summer, our centers will focus on different habitats and children will have opportunities to explore and play taking on the roles of scientists. This week we discussed what kind of habitats we already knew, and what habitats we wanted to know more about!

Next week we will have the Petting Zoo visit us on Thursday, and Forest will go on a walking field trip to Waneka Lake on Friday!

If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask!
