August 4

Good afternoon Garden and Mountain families,

This week the children learned about themselves.  The children sang songs about their bodies and how they move such as “Head, Shoulder, Knees, and Toes” and “The Ants go Marching.”  The children also read books following this theme.  During small circle they read Hands Can, Touch and Feel ABC, and Good Night, Colorado

The children worked on peg puzzles and used many different shaped stackers/nesters.  The children practiced putting on their hats, using spoons, and using gentle touches with their friends.  A big focus of this week was also on communication.  The children were encouraged to sign or say “please” and “thank you.”

For music this week, the children danced with scarves to Talking Hands, Talking Feet.  Through their music Talking Hands, Talking Feet teaches concepts such as days of the week, body movements, and assist with children’s memory by adding new words to repetitive verses.

The children explored their senses by popping bubbles, splashing in the water table, and painting with rollers.

We hope you all have a great weekend!

Ms. Amy, Ms. Latanya, Ms. Jessica, Ms. Lindsay, Ms. Jordan, and Ms. Stephanie
