Hello Aspen families,
It has been a great week in the classroom learning all about healthy habits and keeping our bodies safe. The children have really enjoyed learning new movement songs throughout the week from the artist Frank Leto, including “Tiptoe” and “The Ladybug Song”. We have also been working hard on being kind and looking out for friends who make kind choices. This week I have seen children bring water bottles to their friends, help each other with jackets and hats, get paper towels for their friends to dry their hands and heard so many kind words! We have put up a catching kindness rainbow near our circle rug to record moments we see each other being kind.
In circle time this week we read the books Great Day for Up, Wash and Clean, Take a Bath, Wear a Helmet and Safe at Home. The children really enjoyed going for a scavenger hunt around the classroom this week. Each child had some “bubbles” and got to search around the classroom for “dirt” to cover in soapy bubbles and wash away. The children also spent time brainstorming ways they can keep their bodies safe and worked hard on letter matching both in circle time and in small groups.
Activities this week included textured paper and petals in the sensory table, floam trays, and paint at the easel. The children also worked hard exploring texture squares for painting and mixing the colors green, yellow and white. In Spanish class this week the children continued to practice greetings and counting, as well as adding to their vehicle and transportation vocabulary. And, in music this week Ms. Kathleen brought a few different drums for everyone to play and learn about. Together they worked on making and keeping rhythms with their voices and their drums.
It has been a great week in Aspen class, we hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
See you next week!
Ms. Kate, Ms. Megan, and Ms. Susie
