March 30

Hello Birch Families!

This week in Birch we talked about spring and reptiles.  During our small circles, the children listened to the books, Grouchy Ladybug, Quack, Quack, and Baby Birds.  The children also had fun singing and acting out “Ladybug, Ladybug” and “5 Little Ducks”.  The children also glued black dots and strips to a red oval to make a ladybug, they explored bingo dabbers at the easel, collected sticks to make a bird’s nest, and we made some spring flowers!

During music with Ms. Kathleen, the children got to listen to animal sounds, dance with scarves, and listen to the ever popular Song (with the book), “The Very Busy Day”!

We spent time this week practicing with our new sweeping and pinching work, we worked together in small groups on a large floor puzzle, and we went on a bug hunt outside!  We also washed the animals and the babies!

The Birch class continued to strengthen their large motor skills by crawling through the rainbow tunnel, kicking balls on the playgrounds, practicing our yoga stretches and going for a nature walk.  Also, on Tuesday, the children had so much fun putting on all their snow gear and playing outside in the snow!  It was especially fun trying to make snowmen and decorating them with sticks and wood chips!  We even came inside to make playdoh snowmen!

Next week, we will be talking about amphibians!

This week we welcomed our new teacher Ms. Jamie.

Have an awesome weekend!  Ms. Sarah, Ms. Mariah and Ms. Jamie
