Hello Aspen families,
In Aspen class we have talked all about Earth Day and how to take care of the Earth. We talked about the fact that flowers, fruits and vegetables all grow in the soil and need clean water, clean air and clean soil to grow…just like us! Throughout the week the students all had a chance to work with a flower sorting work which contains four different size flowers that they ordered from smallest to largest.
In circle time we read the books Crinkle, Crackle, Crack It’s Spring!, Dandelions, 123 Peas, Snail and Worm, and Thank You Mr. Panda. The children worked on sound matching the beginning letter sounds of a variety of vegetables, including the /T/, /B/, and /C/ letter sounds. Throughout the week the students have also been counting vegetables and sorting fruits and vegetables. On Friday the children participated in a shape matching game where the children took a small shape and then walked around the classroom to find its match.
We had fun this week with bubbles in the water table, sorting fruits and vegetables, floam mixing and cutting, and painting at the easel. The children also worked on painting vegetable shapes (broccoli, carrots, potatoes and corn) with texture squares.
In music class this week Ms. Kathleen brought a new book for the children, Knick Knack Paddy Whack. Throughout the book each character plays a different instrument and the children were able to listened to the sound and identify the instrument. In Spanish class this week Ms. Susan worked with the students on practicing their counting and colors vocabulary and continued to add to their clothing vocabulary.
For PE this week we went for a nature walk around the neighborhood, keeping our eyes open for flowers, and plants. The children also ran animal races including running like a horse, crawling like a crab, and flying like a bird!
We hope you have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
Ms. Megan, Ms. Mallison, and Ms. Kate
