Hello Birch families,

This week in Birch we talked about birds. We discussed what characteristics make an animal a bird. For example, we talked about how we as humans have hair instead of feathers, we don’t have wings and how we have mouths and not beaks. Although we did pretend to fly like birds and be birds! We practiced our throwing and catching skills along with our kicking skills. In our small group lessons this week we glued on bird feathers to a paper and talked about how feathers look and feel!

During circle time, this week we went over our colors shapes, and numbers! Birch class children practiced life skills this week by washing dishes in our sensory table, doing a giant floor puzzle and by looking at items of nature through a magnifying glass. This week in art the children painted using feathers instead of paintbrushes! The children also explored with texture paint brushes.

In music, this week Ms. Kathleen introduced us to a new song/book called “My Favorite Things”. We also learned a new rhythm with jingle bells that everyone enjoyed singing! The children also loved Ms. Kathleen’s bear puppets and dancing with scarves to a horse song.
