Hello Cedar families,

This week in the Cedar and Dogwood class’ we learned about birds. We saw a lot of birds outside around the playground. The children also learned about how birds feather’s feel when we glued them to paper , talked about the different sounds the birds make and all the different colors that birds come in and that they live all over the world. We also talked about how soft the feathers were and we tried to rub them on our arms – but it tickled!  We practiced stacking blocks, cleaning the tables and the children also practiced putting on our own shoes and that can be kinda hard. In our small group lessons this week we talked about what different bird nests look like, some are in trees and some are on the ground and how baby birds sit and wait for there parents to feed them.

During circle time, this week we read: Click Click Surprise, Penguin Says Please and The Wheels on the Bus . The children continued building their practical life skills this week by sweeping up messes and folding baby blankets. This week in art we painted with foam paint and made bird watching binoculars with paper towel tubes. The children also had fun looking at spiders and bees out on the fence.

In music, this week Ms. Kathleen brought back the jingle bells and taught us the Teddy Bear song. We had fun doing the actions with the teddy bear. When Ms. Kathleen wasn’t around the children enjoyed dancing to the sleeping birds and “If You’re Happy”.

This is Brooke’s last week with us in Dogwood. We will miss her and we wish her luck.

Have an amazing weekend and enjoy the wonderful weather and the long weekend and stay safe.

Ms. Maria, Ms. Brooke, Ms. Delanie, Ms. Jamie, and Ms. Karen
