Happy end of the school year Aspen families!

This week in Aspen we talked about the changing of seasons from Spring to Summer. We talked about the signs of summer we are seeing, and what activities we can do in the summer. We also talked about the end of the school year and some children mentioned older siblings were already out of school or graduating from Treehouse and would be done soon! In circle we read Rain and Shine, Summer, and A Windy Day.

In small groups this week we started a new High Scope math activity called Birthday Cake. We helped children make a birthday cake out of floam and then count the amount of candles they wanted to add to their own cake. The children then counted the different colored candles and compared which color had more and which had less. In literacy the children worked on the letters /s/ and /t/. The children practiced the letter sounds and tracing sand paper letters. The children also worked on filling measuring cups with sand and discussing which cup held more sand.

In music, Ms. Kathleen brought in her guitar and sang “The Skateboard Song” with the children. The children also danced with scarves and listened to Puff the Magic Dragon.

Aspen Class also said good bye to Ms. Kate as Thursday was her last day. We sent her off with lots of hugs and well wishes! We will all miss her but wish her the best in her next chapter!

Have a great long weekend and we will see you in June for some fun in the sun!

Ms. Megan, Ms. Kate, and Ms. Mallison
