Hello Aspen Families!

This week in Aspen we talked about sun, shade, and shadows. At circle we talked about whether it was hotter in the shade or in the sun. After circle the children went outside and played in the sun for a while then went and played in the shade. The children then reported their observations.  They all agreed that the shade was a cooler place to play and that playing in the sun was really hot. The children also shined flash lights on the wall and made shadows with their hands and bodies. They put on shadow puppet shows for their friends. In circle we read stories like Summer Days and Nights, Tracks in the Snow, Who Likes Rain?, My Autumn Book, and Goodbye Summer Hello Fall. In art we put shapes and cut outs on black paper and left them in the sun to watch what happened! In literacy this week we focused on the letters /s/ and /h/. The children also bowled with bean bags and counted the number of pins they knocked over.

This week in Spanish we reviewed colors, counting, vowels, and sang SANCHO!
