August 10

Hello Evergreen Families,

We had a busy and fun week! We started with reading Where the Wild Things Are and then creating the forest in our library. The children have been making masks and pretending to have “Wild Rumpus” parties in the loft. The other theme we have been discussing is fairy tales allowing the children to dress up as princesses, kings, frogs, pigs, and wolves! Many children have also made mention that you know when a story is a Fairy Tale because it starts with, “Once upon a time.”

The most talked about activity this week was a visit from The Arvada Center who came and did a presentation about Where the Wild Things Are in which the children participated in a play. Each student was given a role and costume then they read lines to one another “projecting” their voices and using “props.”

Other things this week:

  • Measuring and Building in Math
  • Counting Beans and number recognition to the theme of Jack and the Bean Stalk
  • Crown and Wild Thing masks in Art
  • Experimenting how to build a house with different materials to the theme of The Three Pigs

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for a great week!

Ms. Kristine, Ms. April, Ms. Brenda
