This Week in Evergreen

Hello Evergreen Families,

The students have had a busy week. We began the topic of apples. Students talked about their favorite color of apple. Used great vocabulary to describe how apples taste as well as how they like to eat them. We began exploring the cycle of an apple from seed to tree and also learned that a tree has to be at least 5 years old to produce fruit.

With the help of Z (Sanford Harmony) and teachers, students are learning the words to use for expressing their feeling and wants. This week we specifically talked about Feelings on the inside and the outside. We read books that illustrated feelings and emotions for non- verbal examples of how a person may be feeling. This week we also:

  • The students continued working on drawing a picture to express/write about their intentional play plan for that work period. You will find writing samples in your parent file. This is like the Message of the day which is a model for the students to learn from.
  • Continued Graphics practice to develop proper pencil grip and beginning of writing
  • Continued the letter Aa with its name, sound and graphic of lower and upper case and adding words that begin with a Aa
  • Manipulation of shapes

Next week we will continue to learn about apples as we transform dramatic play into an Apple and Pumpkin Farm.

Thank You

Ms. Kristine, Ms. Brenda, Ms. Jamie
