Hello Aspen families,
This week in Aspen we discussed calming activities and ways to calm our bodies. We talked about taking deep breaths, doing some yoga, and stretching. In circle we talked about the difference between being calm and being wild. We talked about what activities we would be doing if our bodies were calm, the children came up with coloring, reading, and sleeping. We also talked about the activities we would be doing if our body wasn’t calm, the children came up with running, jumping, and being super heroes. In circle we read 1 2 3 A Calmer Me, Take a Breath, A B C Yoga, Calm Down Time, and Meditate with Me. From these stories the children came up with a list of things they could do to calm their bodies if they get worked up. Some of the things the kids came up with were getting a drink of water, hugging their lovies and/or blankets, asking for a hug, giving themselves a hug, and taking some space.
This week in art the children worked with the colors blue, green, purple, and pink. The children went on a color hunt around Aspen classroom to find as many colors as they could! Beth Epley came to see us and tell us some stories and sing some songs with us.
In music this week we listened to Driving my Tractor as well as animal sounds. The children danced with scarves and went on a fall walk. The children also started learning some new songs! This week in P.E. we danced like various animals in animal actions, we played “Red Light, Green Light,” and did some animal yoga.
Next week we are looking at pumpkins and apples and making our own applesauce! It is starting to get colder outside and we have already seen snow! Please start getting winter gear out and ready for the season. It will be here before we know it! Have a great weekend!
