October 19

Dear River Families,

We have had a wonderful week in Kindergarten. In centers this week, we learned about the life cycle of an apple, and we introduced the difference between “wants” and “needs.” We also listened to a story about friendship and what it means to be a good friend. We discussed how we could work on being better friends. We began studying spiders and Ms. Andrea did a wonderful spiderweb activity with the children.

This week we continued working with food groups in health and nutrition and played a game of “feelings charades”. We started a new story in Volume 2 of our Jr. Great Books named, “The Tale of Two Bad Mice”, a story about a mouse who lost his temper!  We identified a time that we felt angry and discussed what we did to feel better then portrayed this in an illustration. Math this week included working with numbers 1-10, writing numerals and matching quantities.  In peace lesson, Ms. Charlotte and the children did a dramatization of the story of the, “Magic Crystal”. We will continue working with this story next week.

On Thursday we had our field trip to Isabelle Farms. The children enjoyed picking out pumpkins and exploring the corn maze. Thank you to our volunteers who were able to join us!

It was great getting to talk with you all at conferences this week!

Thanks for another great week!

Ms. Lauren and Ms. Andrea
