November 2

Dear Cedar and Dogwood Families,

It was so much fun to see your children in their costumes. The dress-up activity is used daily in the classroom, so we know they love to play dress-up!  We also talked a lot about spiders and the colors orange and black. We read Spooky Pooky and My First Halloween

The next two months are often full of family and celebrations. While fun, these celebrations can become overwhelming as well. To help with this busy time of year, we are revisiting calming. Practicing calming ourselves down every day can help children use that skill when overwhelmed or upset. Calming includes doing activities to relax as well as taking space before we get too overwhelmed.  This includes: taking a deep breath and letting it out quickly;  stretching up, reaching for the sky;  squishing play dough; washing a tabletop, window, or mirror; walking slowly with the scarves while listening to soothing music.  Sometimes just sitting and listening to a storybook is often a calming activity for toddlers.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Karina, Ms. Spenser, Ms. Sonia, and Ms. Karen
