Hello Aspen Families,
This week in Aspen we talked about measurement. This week was also screen free week so we discussed activities we can do without a screen. The children came up playing various sports outside, going to the mountains to hike and camp, going sledding, and going swimming. For measurements we discussed more than and less than. We compared the number of boys and girls at morning circle as well as colors on shirts. We read Big Hugs, Little Hugs, Bear Wants More, 1-2-3 Peas, Pete the Cat Plays Ball, and Doing the Animal Bop.
This week in small groups the children worked on watercolor painting in art. In High Scope math, the children worked on various measurement activities. The children scooped with different sizes of measuring cups to see which one scooped more objects up, they also used droppers to squirt water to see how many squirts of water it took to fill each cup. For science, the children went on a nature walk to observe how nature is changing around us as the season continues to change further into Spring. The children also continued looking at the weather and noticing how that had changed daily. They loved playing in the wet snow that feel this week! In literacy, we continued with letter recognition both in our names and in classmates names. In P.E. this week the children ran animal, super hero, race car races. They also enjoyed yoga outside.
Next week we will be talking about birds. Have a wonderful weekend.
