This week in Birch

Greetings Birch families,

This week the classroom took a deeper look into our planet Earth. We learned that the blue parts on Earth is the ocean where the different fish live and the green is the land which is where the animals and people live. We took this a little further by making green and blue slime and added fish, people, and animals in it. This was a great sensory activity to help develop fine motor skills. The children found it fun searching for fish in the blue slime.

During circle time we sang color rhymes and made a shape robot with Ms. Daisy. The children jumped up and down with their friends and played “Little Mouse Little Mouse.”  We read The Family of Earth, and other storybooks the children brought in from the school library.

Ms. Kathleen introduced a new song called “Humpty Dumpty.” The children pretended to be an egg and fall like Humpty Dumpty. Ms. Kathleen also brought back the ever popular jingle bells and this time the children learned to make different beats with them.  The children also had a great time playing musical instruments while singing “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and “ABC’s.”

Thank you all for a great week!

Ms. Daisy and Ms. Delani
