Hello Dogwood families,
We are so excited to have new classmates join us this week as they transitioned up from the infant program! And our older classmates were also excited to move into their new room in Birch. Getting to know each other is our big focus this week as we talked more about emotions and feelings. We read books such as Shades of People and Bear Feels Scared. Our favorite book this week was I Was So Mad! This is about a boy who gets so mad and how he learns to handle being mad. Also, this week we particularly enjoyed activities outside. Fall in Colorado is so interesting!
Our song this week was called How Are You Feeling Today? It is sung to the tune Hickory Dickory Dock. The lyrics are “How are you feeling today? Oh, how are you feeling today? I’m happy and glad, happy and glad, that’s how I’m feeling today. How are you feeling today? Oh, how are you feeling today? I’m grumpy and cross, grumpy and cross, that’s how I’m feeling today. *(repeat the verse with ‘sleepy and tired’, ‘frightened and scared’ or any other feelings that you might want to add)”.
In art, the children had fun painting with cars and using playdough. We also enjoyed crawling and stomping around. For practical life students enjoyed matching colors and shapes. We also enjoyed activities with blocks and animals.
With the return of colder weather please make sure you send your child with snow gear or leave snow gear at school. They will need snow boats – and indoor shoes, and snow pants when there is snow on the ground. They will also need a winter hat and gloves or mittens for colder days.
Next week we will be talking about apples and other fall fruits.
Don’t forget conferences are next week in the conference room. Dogwood conferences on Thursday! We look forward to meeting with everyone to talk about goals you have for your child.
Thank you!
Have a wonderful warm weekend full of friends and families!
Love,
Ms. Kelsey, Ms. Karen, Ms. Jamie, Ms. Crystal, Ms. Randi and Ms. Eileen
