November 1

Dear Cedar families,

This week in Cedar and Dogwood we discussed harvest and celebrating fall.  The children also loved seeing snow, though that meant extra inside time.  This week we focused on pumpkins. We read Fall Pumpkins and Splat the Cat and The Pumpkins.  Their favorite book this week was My First Halloween which is about pumpkins and costumes.

In art, the children enjoyed painting and washing the pumpkin that was picked from the garden on the Birch playground.  The children worked on spraying water with the spray bottle and using a washcloth to wipe the pumpkin.

The children practiced Downward Dog and Child’s Pose during yoga this week.

Our song of the week was “Ring around the Pumpkin.”  This is sung to the tune of “Ring around the Rosie.”  The lyrics are:  Ring around the Pumpkin, pocket full of nuts, leaves, leaves, they all fall down.  March around the pumpkin, pocket full of nuts, leaves, leaves, they all fall down.  Stomp around the pumpkin, pocket full of nuts, leaves, leaves, they all fall down.  Tip-toe around the pumpkin, pocket full of nuts, leaves, leaves, they all fall down.  Jump around the pumpkin, pocket full of nuts, leaves, leaves, they all fall down.  The children also enjoyed the finger play “Five Little Pumpkins.”

Next week we will be talking about our families! If you haven’t already please be sure to bring a family photo!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Kelsey, Ms. Jamie, Ms. Randi, and Ms. Eileen
