November 15

Dear Forest families,

This week we continued to talk about who and what we are thankful for while decorating our thankful turkey with thankful feathers.  We also continued discussing Stone Soup. The children have established roles for stone soup in our dramatic play area and have really enjoyed acting it out while singing the song. To honor National Kindness Day we read I am Kind and How Full is your Bucket?  The children worked on filling each other’s buckets and talked about how we can continue to fill each other’s buckets every day!

We also started a month long sewing project to create a beautiful backdrop for our Light and Love performance coming up in December.

During literacy groups the children worked on matching objects to the corresponding beginning letter sounds. Then they drew pictures of each object and sounded out each word to match the object creating their very own book.

In math this week the children had lessons on the red and blue rod worksheet that goes along with this work. After they built the red and blue rod stair, they are able to work on coloring the pattern and write the numbers 1-10 creating their own stairs. They also worked with dough to cut different shapes and then talked about how they would cut each shape to make enough pieces for 2,3,4 and even 5 people.

On Friday the children made some beautiful birds they were able to put in their art folders and take home! They also completed an obstacle course outside!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Jess, Ms. Lori, Ms. Blanca, and Ms. April
