Dear Cedar families,
This week in Cedar and Dogwood we focused on winter. We read The Snowy Day and When Will it Snow. The children’s favorite book this week was Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice. This book is a fun picture book that is similar to five little monkeys but with penguins falling on ice instead.
For art this week, the children enjoyed painting with bingo dabbers and using crayons to make cards.
The children enjoyed getting outside this week and practiced putting on their own gear snow gear. They are starting to get the hang of stomping their feet into their boots and even flipping their coats!
The children worked on sorting shapes and beading. They also started working with a pair of gloves and trying to get all their fingers in each slot.
During music with Ms. Amelia, the children enjoyed dancing and singing seasonal songs such as “Jingle Bells.” Our song of the week was “I’m a Little Snowman” which is sung to the tune of “I’m a Little Teapot.” The lyrics are “I’m a little snowman short and fat. Here is my scarf and here is my hat. When the snow is falling come and play. Build a snowman every day. I’m a little snowman short and fat. Here are my buttons, here is my hat. When the sun comes out, I cannot play. I just slowly melt away!” We also sang “Five Little Snowman.”
Next week we will be talking about celebrations around the world. You can practice at home with words such as “holiday”, “celebrate” and “world”.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Kelsey, Ms. Jamie, Ms. Eileen, and Ms. April
