January 10

Dear Dogwood families,

This week in Cedar and Dogwood we learned about our bodies. We read books such as I am Healthy, I am Smart, I am a Friend and Who has These Feet. Our favorite book this week was Look Inside your Body. This book is a fun picture book with lifting flaps which everyone loved to see what was behind each flap.

This week the children enjoyed exploring play dough and water.  The children worked on matching, putting gloves on, and sweeping.  They also enjoyed outside time moving our bodies.

We sang songs about our bodies such as “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” and “Ring around the Rosie.” Our favorite song/ finger play this week was “Where is Thumbkin.”  The lyrics are:  (Start with hands behind back) Where is thumbkin? Where is thumbkin? Here I am (Bring right hand to front, with thumb up) Here I am. (Bring left hand to front, with thumb up) How are you this morning? Very well, I thank you. (Wiggle thumbs as if they’re ‘talking’ to each other) Run away (Hide right hand behind back) Run away. (Hide left hand behind back) The song continues through all fingers.

Next week we will continue learning about our bodies.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Kelsey, Ms. Jamie, Ms. Eileen, Ms. April and Ms. Crystal
