Dear Forest families,
This week the children continued to embrace differences within each other and within our classroom community. We are all different together! We also celebrated Chinese New Year and the year of the Rat. The children explored different animals native to China as well as different places throughout China while playing a matching game and creating books. They decorated paper lanterns and dragon masks and practiced writing the Chinese symbol for peace.
During literacy this week the children continued working with the AT word family matching objects with the corresponding word as well as creating word books. Next week we will create a scavenger hunt AT word activity for the children to use during literacy.
In math this week the children continued to measure their body tracings with different objects, charting their findings and comparing with more or less.
The children have also been planning in their journals for “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” in dramatic play. They have been really into adding detail to their pictures as well as creating a placeholder for each word of their message. As they are completing these independently, we have noticed how proud it makes them feel which is so exciting to watch and be a part of!
In the afternoon the children have been learning all about their amazing bodies and how they work. We are also using our body tracings to do some body systems and parts labeling. We will continue this next week as well.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Jess, Ms. Lori, Ms. Blanca and Ms. Jen
