January 31

Dear Birch families,

We have had a busy week in Birch! We posted the classroom rules on the wall, so we can review them when needed. This week we are focusing on “walking slowly” and “talking quietly,” and next week we will focus on “be kind to others.”

Children are excited about the snow we are supposed to get soon (right after 70 degree temperatures), so we read Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner and we listened to several stories about Pete the Cat.

We also introduced new work on the work shelf and they all were very excited to try them. They promote fine motor skills and problem solving skills. Here is an article that explains the stage they are in a little better and how we can help them build their skills.

To help them concentrate their morning energy, we also did some Yoga and they were very interested in it.  Check out the pictures!

During music with Ms. Amelia they danced a lot! They practiced swinging their arms, waving with one or two hands, and moving the rhythm from hands to toes, which they loved! They also sang along to “Wheels on the Bus.”  On our Friday walk the children were thrilled to come back so they could “see the doggy again,” (Treehouse has a friendly golden retriever neighbor)!  They also had fun exploring finger paint with hands, paintbrushes and a roller.

Have a great weekend!

Ms. Lorena, Ms. Abbi and Ms. Daisy
