Dear Evergreen families,

This week in Evergreen we looked at different mammals we would find in the mountains. The children learned about bighorn sheep, snowshoe hares, mountain lions, and moose. The children learned about what they ate and learned words like herbivore (eats plants) and carnivore (eats meat). We also talked about how some animals use camouflage as protection from other animals. The children had the opportunity to do an obstacle course pretending to be bighorn sheep climbing up and down the side of a mountain, and they made moose antlers and mountain lion masks. The children also made cotton ball snowshoe hares. Outside, the children played a movement and counting game, “What Time is it Mr. Mountain Lion.” Using the masks and antlers they made throughout the week the children also went on an animal parade around the preschool playground.

Next week we will be talking about Colorado reptiles and amphibians.

Have a wonderful Father’s Day weekend!

Ms. Megan
