Dear Garden and Mountain Families,

This week we read Babies Love by Margo Eliot. Reading this book together gives us the opportunity to see different baby faces and allows us an opportunity to introduce some baby sign language. Some signs we were able to introduce while reading this book were happy, play, mom and dad. After reading this book together the children practiced reading independently. At this age sitting with a basket or pile of board books allows them the opportunity to lift each one up, and explore it by turning it over, opening and closing it, mouthing it, or looking at some of the pictures. Being read to every day by a parent or caregiver fosters close relationships, builds vocabulary, knowledge, and early literacy skills, and helps children grow up to love reading.

The children could not get enough climbing on our indoor play mats. They are loving climbing up, down, in and under the play structures. Our little ones especially enjoyed exploring different kinds of musical instruments, making a handprint card using stamp pads, dropping tokens and playing outside.
