Dear Aspen families,
This week, we focused on learning about the Sun, Moon, and Stars. Some of the topics that we discussed included taking a look at the difference between day and night, learning about shadows, and what is in our solar system. One activity that we did included using a sponge dipped in paint to make a moon and stars on black paper to represent the nighttime, and on white paper, we used the sponge dipped in paint to make the sun to represent the daytime. The children also colored with white crayon on black paper to make the nighttime sky.
One other activity that we did in literacy was that the children had pictures that were safe and unsafe to do plus healthy and unhealthy. They had to sort out the pictures based on these categories.
We also read the following books which the children really enjoyed: Let’s Explore The Stars by Walt Moon, Luna: The Science and Stories of our Moon by David Aguilar, Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, Stars and Galaxies by James Buckley, Sun by Sam Usher, and Sun and Moon by Lindsey Yankey. In addition, we sang some fun songs this week in the classroom including “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” “Solar System in Motion,” “Rocket Ship Run,” “Star Light, Star Bright,” and “Mr. Sun.”
We hope that you all enjoy your weekend ahead.
Ms. Randi and Ms. Allie
