July 17

Dear Birch families,

This week was all about colors.  We enjoyed spraying water on the coffee filters we colored and seeing how the colors mixed together.   We did a scavenger hunt to identify all of the colors we see around our classroom and this helped us to discuss that colors have different shades and don’t always look the same.

Outside we have continued to take care of our plants.  We had our very first zucchini grow in our garden!  We discussed how the vegetable grows out of the flowers on the plant and what parts of the plant we can eat.

“Down by the Station” was a majorly requested song this week.  We have a book that goes along with it and everyone sings along as we go through the days in the book.

The big focus this week was working on filling our own water bottles and putting the lids on.  We also added on unscrewing the lid to refill our waters when they are empty.  Many of the children are excited for another way they can be independent!  This is also an excellent way to exercise fine motor skills throughout the day.

Thank you all for a great week!

Ms. Sarah and Ms. Kara
