March 10

Hello Garden and Mountain Families.

This week the children have been learning about transportation. We have talked about and looked at pictures of all things that move. They love to point to the pictures and hear the sound that vehicle makes. Some of the older children say the words and make some of the sounds, as well.

We helped them roll toy cars down different ramps. We used the loft ramp and a couple of the climbing mats to see how far and fast the cars would roll. After a few times of watching us roll them, the children jumped right in and tried it for themselves.

The children also played with a wooden train puzzle and watched boats float in the water table outside. While outside, we got to see many of the vehicles from our books. The children saw planes in the sky, cars and trucks on the road, and even got to see a helicopter fly directly over us!

This week we read Noisy Peekaboo! Vroom! Vroom!, Touch and Lift Truck, Red Light, Green Light, Things that Go, and the Big Busy Machine series. They also wanted to sing a lot. There are so many songs about transportation: “The Wheels on the Bus,” “Down by the Station,” and “Zoom, Zoom, Zoom” are just a few we sang this week.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
