Hello Birch families,

This week the Birch class focused on learning their new daily routine.  We had a short lesson on how to use the work shelves and work mats, where their new cubbies are and where their water bottles go.  They also practiced proper hand washing procedures as well as cleaning up after themselves when finished with work or a meal. However, this week wasn’t all about business! The children sang and danced along to “Bop until you drop”, went on a bear hunt, used action dice and danced with scarves!  The children also listened along to the books The Feelings Book, I Can Share, Clean Up Everybody and Llama Llama Time to Share.

During music with Ms. Kathleen the children practiced making “Baa Baa” sounds into the microphone, used shaker eggs and rhythm sticks, danced with scarves and practiced keeping a beat on the drum.

Practical life skills continued to grow by pouring smalls balls back and forth in cups, scooping stars, picking up large pom-poms with tongs and washing dishes in the sensory table.

The Birch class continued to enhance their large motor skills by jumping with two feet off the balance beam, kicking balls back and forth to a friend, zig zagging through small cones and climbing up the stairs to go down the slide.

This week during P.E. with Ms. Kira, the Birch class practiced hopping across lily pads, balancing on a tight rope, galloping like a horse and played red light, green light.

Next week the Birch class will be discussing “All about me”!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Nicole and Ms. Itzel
