August 26

This week in Aspen children explored their new classroom. Children talked about classroom rules and routines and how to follow directions. They practiced how to use their work and work spaces appropriately. Children also were taught how to independently clean their work spaces.  Lots to remember!

This week they explored colors, shapes while sitting on a name tag on the rug. Children were encouraged to find their names independently all week!! All of the Aspen children are becoming successful with this activity.  We read stories, engaged in a name recognition activity and worked our large muscles dancing. We painted with primary colors to create new colors then practiced tossing bean bags into a basket and introduced a new pouring activity.

Music: In Music Ms. Kathleen introduced children to rhythm and beat. They danced with scarves, sang a new song: Ten Little Fingers. Children also played rhythm sticks to music.

Literacy: Ms. Charlotte introduced Aspen to the library this week. Children were encouraged to walk around the library and become acquainted with how to use books and pick out a book to enjoy. We also read stories with Ms. Charlotte about starting school.

PE: In PE children learned about boundaries in the big room. Ms. Kira led them through an activity wher they matched color bean bags to color poly spots while counting.  The group really enjoyed playing red light green light while galloping.

It has been a busy week in Aspen and we are very excited to see what’s next in store.
