Hello Garden and Mountain Families.

This week at Treehouse we focused on ‘Families.’ Thank you for filling out your All About My Family forms. It is great for us to be able to get to know your family a little bit, instead of just the children in our class.

We read Families, How Do I Love You?, My Family and Me, Global Babies, and Mama’s Milk. After reading books about the family, we spent a little time looking at and talking about the children’s family photos in the classroom. The children love to look at their own photo, but also seem to enjoy pointing to other children’s photos, as well. They seem to be able to recognize the other children in class with them. We sang “The More We Get Together,” “You are My Sunshine,” and “Five Little Ducks;” and Ms. Kathleen brought jingle bells and shaker eggs for the children to play in music class.

This week we also did some new art projects. Many of the children seem to be a little weary of getting paint on their hands, so this week we found ways to paint without the mess. We put paint into Ziploc bags for the children to squish around, and also paint inside of a Tupperware with marbles, so the children could shake it and paint in that way. They really seemed to enjoy these activities and not getting messy.
