Dear Forest Families,

This week in Forest we began exploring Fall and what happens during this new season. We discussed how the weather changes and how the leaves will soon start falling from the trees on our playground.

Forest children continued their “families” theme through play this week. We practiced taking on the role of other people, such as pretending to be a mom, dad, aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, baby, brother, or sister. Children have used these roles to dive deeper into their play as they continue to explore the many “rooms” our centers have become. Many children have come up with their own ideas of props we need in the different centers of our classroom and they have turned their ideas into reality!

During “play planning” this week children planned out their hour of play by drawing it, describing it, and then writing their plan with a teacher. They have created messages of what they will do before they go and act on it in their center of choice. Daily play plans will start going home at the end of each week so be sure to check parent files to find play plans and to see what your child planned and did throughout the week.

Next week we will continue to discuss the changing season and weather as well as explore different family roles through play. It is exciting to see how children take on another role as they play and interact!

Be sure to sign up for conferences, and please make sure your child has a jacket as the weather becomes cooler this month.
